Juneteenth his here tomorrow (Thursday), but we're celebrating all the way through Sunday. Here's two events this weekend worth checking out:
Juneteenth Celebration with the Oregon City Library
What: A panel discussion celebrating Oregon black authors that will share their thoughts around why they write, how they decide what
to focus on, and the ways they incorporate Black history into their writings, revealing history that may have been hidden by others. The discussion will take place in the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center Theater starting at 3:00p.
Respond to Racism Executive Director Bruce Poinsette will be one of the panelists at Oregon City’s Juneteenth panel where they will be discussing Hidden History. Other panelists include:

Johanna (Jo) Ogden, Public Historian & Author
Emmett Wheatfall, Poet
David F Walker, Author, Educator, Armchair Historian. Mr. Walker is one of the authors of the Eisner-nominated “Big Jim and the White Boy”. The book is one of the One Community, One Book selections.

2025 LO Juneteenth Celebration
What: Join us for Juneteenth in Lake Oswego, a powerful celebration of freedom, resilience, and culture! Guests can peruse food, artisan and nonprofit vendors with the main program beginning at 2 p.m. Emceed by DJ Ambush and Morgan Jones, this event will be lively from start to finish.
