While watching we encourage you to listen closely to the candidates and assess for yourself how their responses match up to our values, voiced in our theory of change. RtR community, we need to make our voices heard and our presence felt for the City's 2025 Goal Setting Retreat January 25th. Two points of emphasis is the need to gather quality of life data for communities of color in LO, as well creating culturally specific spaces a priority for the city. Here is the 2024 City Council Goals for your reference. Your voice will help shape what 2025 initiates look like.
Racism isn't something to just sweep under the rug, or leaf-blow to another county. It starts with us in our own community, with a willingness to strategize, mobilize and do the work needed to dismantle. Our Direct Engagement Committee does this work and we encourage you to join in. Current projects that the committee is working on include regularly attending public meetings (city council and school board), keeping notes on all these meetings and organizing actions based on what goes on in them (i.e. mobilizing to
get the aforementioned things on the 2025 City Goals).
